There is a community litter pick of the Walton end of the Broad Water Lake and watercourses on SUNDAY 9th JUNE. Meet up at the Desborough Island end of Cowey Sale Car Park at 9.50am for a safety briefing. Himalayan Balsam is a rapidly spreading invasive plant species which needs to be kept under control and this requires the plant being pulled out of the ground with its roots, luckily it comes out without too much effort!
You will need to wear suitable clothing and footwear determined by the weather and ground conditions on the day. It is recommended that you bring water to drink and stout gardening gloves, however disposable abrasion resistant gloves will be freely available along with litter pickers and rubbish bags.
All young people and dogs need to be supervised all times and are the responsibility of their parents/guardians, families welcome and anyone with reasonable fitness will all be very warmly welcomed.
The event will finish no later than 12 noon, so (subject to weather) why not make it a family event?
It would be appreciated if you would RSVP to email@example.com with how many people in your party will be attending but this is not essential.
You do not need to commit to attending for the full 2 hours, just as much or as little time as you can give will be very much appreciated.
