Weybridge Business Park, Addlestone Road
An urgent request from our Runnymede neighbours on a decision that also affects Weybridge
Following the unanimous refusal of their previous application, Bridge Industrial has submitted a revised application to Runnymede Borough Council (RU.23/1066). Elmbridge Borough Council was consulted on the application and again submitted a ‘Raise No Objection’ response (see Elmbridge’s application 2023/2356). We have been advised by the very active Poet’s Corner members that the proposal could be determined by the Runnymede Planning Committee on 25th October (Half Term week) and we are strongly encouraging our members to object as such a huge development will have an enormous impact on Weybridge residents and our local road network. The Society’s letter objecting to the scheme was submitted to Runnymede on 1st September. A subsequent letter was submitted to Elmbridge on 4th September raising our concerns about the Council’s ‘Raise No Objection’ response.
Bridge Industrial has modified its plans by reducing the size of the proposed development and changing the proposed use from a ‘Transport Hub’ to one which is designed to secure tenants from ‘Small and Medium Enterprises’ seeking employment units, for instance, ‘Research and Development’, Light Industrial, General Industrial and Storage/Distribution. The proposed buildings are still huge and the development is still ‘Speculative’ meaning that at present there are no tenants so it’s impossible to gauge the full impact of the proposed development on traffic congestion, air quality, noise and light interference etc, etc particularly as the developers are seeking permission for the development to be a 24/7 operation.
Details and suggestions of why and how to object are contained in the ‘flyer’ from the Poets Corner Residents Group. Letters will normally be accepted up to the time of the Committee Meeting.
