Two applications have been submitted for the major part of the old social club site in Springfields Lane. It is very difficult to see the differences between the two applications since they are both for a 5 storey block of 22 flats with only parking for 16 cars.
This is a town centre location, albeit rather tucked away, with the majority of Springfield Lane being made up of Victorian era cottages and the proposed site is just on the edge of the town’s Monument Green Conservation Area.
The Society’s Planning Panel will be responding to the Council’s Planning Department very shortly.

Comments are requested by Friday, 1st June, however there is generally no issue if they are received later than the suggested date.
It should also be noted that adjacent to the proposed new block the other part of the old social club site is currently being developed as a 3 storey building with a small social club on the ground floor and with four flats above – planning application 2016/1047
