An Overview of the Society’s role, aim and scope in Placemaking is now on the website.
We’re working with Weybridge in Bloom and have established a coalition with Discover Weybridge—the new Business Improvement Development Team (BID)- to coordinate ideas on enhancing the town.
We continue to present ideas to councils and councillors to help shape the significant changes proposed to our town centre. However, we still need more input and feedback from you and the community to ensure plans best meet the needs of our town for everyone.
Regarding the Health Centre entrance, our initial ideas for improvement are under consideration by NHS Property Services suggesting opening up the green space by removing the front wall and adding shrubs, a few more trees and making new seating a feature.
For Baker Street our initial Ideas and plans have been put forward to SCC as part of its design study to improve the junction and adjoining amenity space at the street entrance plus ways to develop the street into a Destination Area. We’re also in discussion with the new owner of the previous Nat West building to add planters behind the railings to brighten the entrance to the street.
After our sustained persistence SCC has pruned the 5 trees in front of Boots. Unfortunately, the lefthand tree is dying and will have to be removed and probably can’t be replaced.
Planting and care of the walled bed near The Waverly Inn has continued and is now looking more colourful even after the very hot summer being such a challenge. A big thank you to Sue Reid for helping with watering and for all the appreciative comments.
The trees and surrounding area at The Quadrant were tidied ahead of the Discover Weybridge Team having trees wrapped with lights for Christmas. The high street was also weeded while SCC is pressed to fulfil its maintenance responsibilities.
As part of further improving the town centre we have identified several potential locations for planting more trees in the pavement and are currently assessing the practicalities and cost.
We need your feedback — and your creativity.
We are looking for people with creativity and vision – observant people who notice what is good and not so good in Weybridge and care enough to share these views and ideas. A bonus would be graphic design skills, design software know-how or architects with town planning/landscaping experience to help us. Is that you?
