LEOS Developments have submitted 3 new planning applications for their St George’s Gardens housing developments.
There would be a total of 243 new homes, covering the North and South areas on Locke King Road.
2023/2167 – St George’s Gardens Terrace
4 x 3 bed terraced houses on the North side with 8 car parking spaces
2023/2169 – St George’s Gardens South
168 flats in 4 blocks and 18 3-storey houses = 186 units
The flats will have a basement car park for 185 cars and each house will also have one parking space.
2023/2170 – St George’s Gardens North
43 flats in 2 blocks and 10 3-storey houses = 53 units
The flats will have surface parking for 43 cars and each house will also have one parking space.
Overall the three schemes are for 211 flats and 32 houses.
The plans do not seem to be significantly different from previous ones, which for the South site were refused permission earlier this year.
One of the existing office buildings, Block C (white building in the picture), is not included in the plans but it already has permission to convert into another 26 flats.
Out of the 211 flats, 139 or 66% will be just one bedroom. This would appear to be in line with Elmbridge Borough Council’s policy that Weybridge needs many more smaller homes, a point which the Society has repeatedly questioned.
Once again LEOS are saying that it is not financially viable to provide any ‘affordable housing’ on the sites, even though the EBC policy is that 30% of the homes should be affordable.
It’s easy to comment on the plans. You can submit your views online by clicking on the application number links above or write a letter and submit it to tplan@elmbridge.gov.uk.
Comments are asked for by 8th September, however late comments are always accepted.
