Our estate agents’ boards competition – “What would you call a dense cluster of Estate Agents’ Boards?” – garnered a huge response. (So big in fact, it dwarfed rather more serious questions we’ve asked of the public!)
More than 30 individuals replied, with some providing as many as nine separate entries!
So we sifted and considered, thought and loved, many of the ideas. It was a tough choice . . . . Like between ‘haggle’ and ‘gaggle’ which seemed particularly apt and roll off the tongue, as well the longer ‘bombardment’ – emotionally spot-on and a nice alliterative description. We also liked the quite original ‘pandemonium’ entered by our very own chairman, Dave Arnold, as it refers to a group of parrots, who squawk a lot and endlessly repeat the same thing!
Also in contention were more descriptive and esoteric entries like ‘Hoard of Hopefuls’ and ‘Priapism’ (a persistent unwanted erection, should you ask).
But for sheer staying power, we decided the winner is BARRAGE OF BOARDS – as this phrase is most likely to be used, is easy to remember, as well as having a nice ring. So many thanks to the winner Christine Purdy for her entry, and we’ll be using it regularly going forward!
