The recent Surrey CC consultation on introducing road improvements in Weybridge Town Centre, including a 20mph zone, resulted in a large number of objections, so the proposal has been put on hold for the time being whilst Surrey CC consider other options.
The main roadworks for a 20mph zone were scheduled to start this week but will now not be happening.

The Society will soon be publishing the results of its recent walking and cycling survey which shows the speed of traffic is a major factor in deterring people, especially children, from walking and cycling. So the freedom of people driving has to be balanced against the needs of people using other ways of getting around and the cost of collisions and casualties.
More people walking and cycling on short journeys would reduce the amount of traffic and pollution in the town.
