Planning Panel

Planning applications and “The Planning Panel”

The Society is interested in all the Built Environment Developments in Weybridge and the Planning Panel is charged with the role of examining all Planning Applications submitted to the Council proposing substantial new developments within our four wards.

If a planned development would, we believe, be inappropriate in any way, a letter of objection or comment is submitted to the Council to assist the Planning Department officers with the consideration of the application.

Because of the size and reputation of the Society our letters do carry considerable weight when the officers and councillors are considering a decision to refuse or permit a Planning Permission application.

The progress of applications are then monitored, by Planning Panel members and Council Planning Sub-committee meetings and appeals are often attended to witness the decision process. Results of the applications monitored by the panel are reported in the regularly published Society Newsletter.

The Planning Panel has produced a document which summarises the procedure followed by Elmbridge Council’s Planning department in dealing with planning applications (and other development control matters) - to view the document click here.

The Panel has also produced a document to assist members in making objections to planning applications - to view the document click here.
