St Charles Borromeo Chapel open to the public

St Charles Borromeo Chapel on Heath Road is the original Catholic Church in Weybridge. It is now the World Mission Korean Presbyterian Church. It is one of only two  Grade 2 star listed buildings in Weybridge.

Restoration started in July 2005, to bring it back to its original splendour.  The history of the building starts when it was built as a chapel and mausoleum for the Roman Catholic Taylor family who lived in the house, firstly known as Waterloo and later Waverley cottage which dates from 1816. The chapel's importance is its connection with the French royal family who worshipped there in exile and were buried there, and with Queen Victoria, whose cousin and close friend the Duchess of Nemours was also buried in the crypt. The chapel has unique glass which has wonderful colours and depth of detail - Weybridge is the only place where this glass may now be found.
