Sam Beare no longer to be at Weybridge Hospital

After more than two years of uncertainty Woking and Sam Beare Hospices has announced that from December this year their services at Weybridge Hospital will be gradually transferred to the new hospice building in Woking.

Previously it was planned to redevelop Sam Beare to create a separate Wellbeing Centre for the wider area. The charity is saying the change of plans is due to NHS Property Services proposing to charge up to £300,000 per annum for use of the Sam Beare part of the Weybridge building, which was previously rent free. This has made plans for developing services within the building no longer financially viable.

However the charity says it will be finding an alternative space in the local area for the Weybridge-based Community Team which comprises Nurse Specialists, Doctors, Counsellors, Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists. It will be a satellite base covering the Spelthorne, Runnymede and West Elmbridge area enabling more patients to be visited in their homes than would be possible if the staff were based at the Woking location.
