Preservation Of Chertsey Meads
Chertsey Meads is close to Weybridge and is a very pleasant open space enjoyed by walkers and picnicers by the Thames.
Local residents on the Weybridge Hamm Green estate are keen it should be preserved and protected from any future minerals working.
There is a campaign called Queens Jubilee Fields, that is aiming to identify recreational spaces in every County for long term preservation. See http://www.qe2fields.com .
Runnymede Council were too late to put the fields to the public vote that happened in October, but are still hopeful that it will be included in the final list. They believe it would help if people clicked ‘Like this’ on the website page.
So, if you want to preserve Chertsey Meads as a recreational space long term (and not have it used as a gravel pit) please go to the website below and click ‘Like This’ next to the Chertsey Mead entry:
1. Go to http://www.qe2fields.com
2. Go to Get Involved, then Local Authorities, Find Runnymede Borough Council from the pull down menu on the right hand side, click search symbol.
3. Click ‘Like this’ under Chertsey Mead
