Elmbridge parking review and on street charging proposals
Many of people may not be aware of the consultations currently going on regarding proposed parking changes in Elmbridge. There are notices attached to lamp posts in many places in Weybridge but these are extremely difficult to understand regarding specific changes.
There are two aspects to the proposals:
- changes to things like having more yellow lines and more Controlled Parking Zones, and
- the introduction of on-street parking charges.
Full details are available on the Surrey County Council website at www.surreycc.gov.uk/sccwebsite/sccwspages.nsf/LookupWebPagesByTITLE_RTF/Elmbridge+2010+parking+review+and+on+street+charging+proposals?opendocument
From here you will have to look at the various PDF documents which can be opened up.
You have until 1st April to put in your comments about specific proposals.
Regarding the on-street parking charges proposals they would apply throughout Surrey and will affect all the currently free street parking in Weybridge town centre.
For full details, including the report justifying them, visit www.surreycc.gov.uk/sccwebsite/sccwspages.nsf/LookupWebPagesByTITLE_RTF/On+Street+Charging+Proposals?opendocument
There's a petition which can be signed if you personally feel the proposals are a bad idea. This at http://petitions.surreycc.gov.uk/ParkingCharges/#detail
The deadline for the petition is the 23rd March and it appears there is a hurdle of 20,000 names needed, which then gives a requirement on the council to have a public debate.
