Chatterbus links Weybridge and Cobham

Chatterbus, a brand new bus service providing the first public transport link between Weybridge and Cobham, will be launched on April 7th.

Chatterbus will be the first scheduled daily bus service between Weybridge, Brooklands Retail Park and Cobham. Residents of Weybridge and Byfleet will have direct access to all Cobham's amenities -  the High Street with its shops, cafes and new library and community hub, the Riverhill area, and Painshill Landscape Garden - plus Oxshott Heath, the Medicine Garden at Downside, Walton Firs Activity Centre and other local attractions. Once in Cobham, onward journeys into London and Guildford will be easy as the bus stops right outside Cobham station.

On Saturdays, Chatterbus will make additional stops at Brooklands Museum, Brooklands Community Park and Mercedes Benz World. There are attractive offers in the pipeline for those who use the bus at several destinations on the route. The Saturday service will also go further on to Fetcham and Leatherhead, making a stop at Leatherhead Leisure Centre. Onward connections to Epsom Hospital and Dorking can be made from here.

The new service, which will appear as routes C1 and C2 on SCC timetables, will be provided by a professional public transport operator. Its aims are: affordable transport, with season ticket economies and free off-peak travel for those with senior citizen bus passes; reliability, lack of which has long been the criticism of other services in the area; and information., which will be available live.

Chatterbus is a completely local initiative, managed by a new Community Interest Company - Cobham Community Bus CIC - purely for the benefit of the local community. This unique approach to providing a bus service is generously sponsored by Elmbridge Borough Council, Surrey County Council , Chelsea Football Club Foundation, Anchor, and Cargill.

Chatterbus is well down the road to launch day. A detailed timetable has been worked up, tested and reworked with the support of Surrey County Council Public Transport team. You can find out the latest news about Chatterbus at www.chatterbus.org.uk where you can sign up for email newsletters and for Twitter updates. Please spread the word around the local area - the more people who know about and use Chatterbus, the more assured its long term future
