Help clear up the Thames bankside - Tues and Weds from October until Christmas

Date Time Location
22nd Nov 2011 10:30

The Thames Landscape Strategy organisation has asked Weybridge Society if members may like to help clear the vegetation along the Thames on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from October until Christmas - it is 10.30 to 2.30 p.m.

They will start working on the Desborough Island section and then move to other areas. The workers will all be wearing dark green shirts with Swingbridge on the back, and will come on the barge Swingbridge to the site. The meeting point at 10.30 a.m. is the small parking area at the entrance to Desborough Island path. The work undertaken is vegetation management - full training, etc., will be given - but wear appropriate footwear and clothes.

Part of the programme includes removing the self-sown trees and lower vegetation from along the Weybridge towpath (Thames). They are working their way along the towpath on Desborough at present but will also be working on the Weybridge side over the coming weeks. Also in November time, part of the work on Desborough will be to start to lay a native hedgerow.
